Spiritual fitness and training for battle

Posted in: Personal Growth

Training for battle takes dedication, determination and support. The men and women who serve in the military know all too well what a difference good training makes. A solid foundation and good training prepare a warrior for any trial thrown his or her way. But, our servicemen and women face not only physical trials on the battlefield but also spiritual pitfalls both on the ground and back at home.

Though we are not all called to service in the military, we are called to support those who serve us. To do so, we have created the Spiritually Fit-Ready to Serve booklets – guides that helps build up and positively grow those serving and their families, as they face the stresses and traumas of combat.

One retired Army Staff Sergeant said “The Spiritual Fitness Guides don’t try to be something they’re not. The ministry here is not trying to train seminary graduates, but we are trying to give basic trainees the tools to live a life with Christ as their center and that’s exactly what these guides do.”

Is there a military family in your life who needs the support of a strong community? How can you use the Spiritually Fit-Ready to Serve booklet or other resources this month to help members of the military prepare their hearts for the challenges that service brings?
