Giving Stocks and Mutual Funds

For stock and mutual fund gifts, shares are transferred into an account owned by Cru. A Stock Administrator then sells the shares. A check is issued for the value of the stock or mutual fund. Once the check is received, it is deposited and credited according to your intentions. It is important to mention that the gift is to benefit Cru Military.

To initiate this process, you can fill out the Stock Transfer Form below and instruct your broker to transfer your shares from your account to Cru.

To let us know of an incoming stock or mutual fund gift, please complete

PLEASE NOTE: The shares of stock arrive in our brokerage account without any information about the person donating the shares nor the purpose of the gift.

If your transfer has been made, but you have opted not to use the form linked above, please email stock@cru.org with the following information:

  • Your name and address
  • The name of the stock and the number of shares
  • For the benefit of:

You can also call a representative at 1-888-278-7233. (Opt. 1, then opt. 2).

Giving a Certificate

You may deliver your stock certificate to your broker in order to have a new certificate issued in the name of Campus Crusade for Christ, Inc. Our tax identification number is 95-6006173. This certificate can then be mailed to us without endorsement. Be sure to attach a note that this is to benefit Cru Military. You may endorse a stock certificate to Cru, Inc., by printing and completing the Stock Power Form and the Security Waiver Form. Be sure to attach a note that this is to benefit Cru Military.

Mail the paperwork to:

Mutual Funds

Most mutual funds require us to have an account with them in order to receive your shares. Please contact us at 1-888-278-7233 so that we can provide the information needed for your transfer. Be sure to mention that this is to benefit Cru Military.

Real Property

If you own real estate (such as a home, vacation property, vacant land, farmland, ranch or commercial property) which is no longer needed for its original purpose or income production, donating it to support Cru Military may be a great option for you — and it will certainly help to share Jesus and build multiplying disciples!

Contact Cru Foundation at 800-449-5454 or info@crufoundation.org. Or visit crufoundation.org/realestate. Be sure to mention that your gift is to benefit Cru Military.

Will or Estate Gift

A charitable bequest is one of the easiest and most flexible ways to leave a gift to Cru Military that will make a lasting impact. You can leave a bequest in your will, living trust or with a codicil.

You can give a specific dollar amount, a percentage, or specific property. A gift through a will enables you to make a significant gift to Cru Military and allows you to continue to use the property you will leave to charity during your life.

Contact Cru Foundation at 800-449-5454 or info@crufoundation.org. Or visit crufoundation.org/bequest. Be sure to mention that your gift is to benefit Cru Military.

Personal Estate Design

As a partner with Cru Military, you have access to the no-cost estate design service from Cru Foundation. Achieve your goals with concrete strategies that consider the relational, tax, and legal outcomes in user-friendly language and helpful illustrations. You will walk away with clear steps for implementation to —

  • Create the framework—a “Blueprint”—for a new will or trust.
  • Update your current will or trust to reflect changes in law, relationships and assets.
  • Provide a second professional opinion on your current estate plans and affirm the supporting documents are in place to meet your goals.

IRA Charitable Rollover Opportunity

You may be looking for a way to make a big difference to help further the mission of Cru Military. If you are 70½ years or older, you may also be interested in a way to lower the income and taxes from your IRA withdrawals. An IRA charitable rollover is a way you can help continue our work and benefit this year. Please consult your financial advisor to see if this is a good option for you! Be sure to mention that your donation is to benefit Cru Military.

Benefits of an IRA charitable rollover

  • Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $100,000 from your IRA to our organization
  • Satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year
  • Reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions
  • Make a gift that is not subject to the 60% deduction limits (100% for cash gifts during 2020) on charitable gifts
  • Help further the work and mission of our organization

How a Qualified Charitable Distribution Works
  1. Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to Cru.
Fill out the Notification form, and once completed, email us at ira@cru.org with the form attached.
  2. The top portion of the form has all of the information your Custodian will need to initiate a donation through your IRA. If your Custodian will allow it, please request that they also include your full name and address or your donor number.
  3. Your Custodian will then send a check on your behalf to continue our important work.
  4. We will mail you an Acknowledgment letter for your gift that states that no goods or services were provided. Please keep this for your records. IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction.

Please note: Many times, IRA checks do not include information about you or your intentions for the gifts. As a result, your gift may not benefit the particular staff or ministry you had in mind if you do not contact Cru with your information.
