You are NOT weak

If you are suffering from PTSD, every day can provide a new surge of fearful thoughts that threaten to shut you down and turn you into stone. This condition exists not because you are weak or cowardly, but because you are wounded, and your brain is not processing incoming stimuli properly. But with God’s help, as He instills you with His courage to act in spite of your fears, you can conquer them.
You have problems. Lots of them. Why should you feel any reason to be courageous? Because you are vitally connected to the Supreme Problem-Solver of the Universe! And He says to you the same thing He said to Joshua, as he took over leadership of Israel after Moses died: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” Joshua 1:9.
God wants to give you the courage to take action and become the man or woman that He desires you to become. He intends for your life to matter, despite–and possibly because of– the horrors of combat you suffered. He has a legacy in mind for you, but you need to have the courage to reach for it. If you reach, He will be sure you grasp it.
“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours.” – Ayn Rand, Russian-born American novelist and philosopher
“Success is never final. Failure is never fatal. It’s the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill
