Top Military Marriage Stressors

Posted in: Family, Marriage

Spencer and Margaret have worked with many military couples as volunteers, besides being a military couple themselves.

Here are the top three struggles they see:

  •       Multiple deployments: “When you’re apart, you grow, but you’re growing without one another. That makes it hard during the reintegration period.”

  •       Frequent moving: “You start over every time. The children have to start over, too.”

  •       Finances: Often the spouse stays home with the children in military families. Money can be tight.

By volunteering, they see firsthand the difference God is making in the lives of real people, just like them. They see reluctance and pain transform into hope and faith. “We both feel that God is using our story to help others,” they said. “That’s why we’re so on board with volunteering.”
