A Caring Community

It is amazing just how quickly a ministry can change. Shortly after the threat of Coronavirus was found, it became a worldwide pandemic affecting the lives of millions of people. The emotions of many all over the world manifested itself in fear … fear of not knowing what is happening with what can we do to keep my family safe and healthy … fear of someone getting sick … fear of losing a job/career … and most of all, fear of dying. There are many military leaders from Latin America and other parts of the world who travel to San Antonio to be trained in leadership skills through the Echo Company, Inter American Air Force Academy, the Defense Language Institute and working in the Air Force Dorm at Ft. Sam Houston.

Because of the partnership Cru Military has with the chaplains over each of these units, permission to teach spiritual truths about following Jesus has been an ongoing ministry. Once the call for shelter-in-place happened because of the Covid-19 lockdowns, many of the military students were either sent back home or made to quarantine in their dorm rooms with no access to computers or smartphones. Even though there have been obstacles to face-toface teaching, an email sent to each one back in their country has resulted in virtual classes and even entire families have been interested in learning more about what the Christian life is all about. Glory to God for our volunteers who speak some of the languages needed as many of those sent home for now, can continue to feel like they are still being cared for and taught the Word of God.
