Executive Director Named for Cru Military

Posted in: Stories

Over the past several months, the two of us engaged a team of leaders to seek the Lord for the next Executive Director of Cru Military®. Through the support of ongoing prayers in this extraordinary season, the process has been thorough, and the candidates have been exceptional.

Following this journey, Brigadier General David Phillips, U.S. Air Force (Ret.) has accepted our invitation to be the next Executive Director of Cru Military. General Phillips brings a long journey of faithfulness to our Lord, years of service to the United States, and courageous and exceptional leadership.  His character, humility, gifting, and passion for the gospel, Cru’s mission, and the military community around the globe give us great confidence that he is called to lead Cru Military into the future.

Brigadier General David G. Phillips, Jr. retired with 31 years of service from the Virginia Air National Guard and the Air National Guard of the United States in June of 2002. In 2010 David began serving with the Military Ministry of Cru, where he served as Ministry Advancement Director, responsible for ministry fundraising, marketing, brand management, and external communication.  He holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Business Administration along with numerous Merit and Service awards from the US Air Force and Virginia National Guard. He and his wife, Terilyn have been married for 32 years and live in Newport News, Virginia. They have 5 children, 2 grandchildren, and another grandchild on the way.

As we make this transition, it’s hard to express how deeply grateful we are for the clear, compassionate, and courageous leadership of Colonels Daryl and Martha Jones. They have been nothing short of stellar over the past year and a half as the Interim Executive Directors of Cru Military.  They have shepherded the movement to a place of true health and stability. God has gifted them so very significantly as leaders, and we are confident that they will continue to lead in partnership with General Phillips, Cru Military, and the global movement of Cru around the world.

Gen Phillips officially assumed the position of Executive Director of Cru Military on Monday, Nov 7th. So, together we enter into this next chapter reminded that unless the Lord builds the house, we labor in vain and apart from Jesus, we can do nothing. In this spirit, we move forward, trusting the Lord to accomplish His purposes in and through Cru Military.  Please join us in praying for General Phillips and his family in the coming weeks.

Blessings and prayers,
