Thanksgiving Devotion: Thanking God for giving you His Spiritual Heart

Posted in: Stories

Week 2

Our heart is vital. We cannot live without our heart.

There are so many miraculous features about what happens when our hearts pump blood, but one feature should not be overlooked. An average heart pumps 21.4 ounces of blood per heartbeat. In most people, the heart beats around 72 beats per minute. This amounts to 1.3 gallons per minute. In other words, it pumps 1,900 gallons per day and almost 700,000 gallons per year. For a 70-year-old person, their heart has miraculously pumped approximately 454 million gallons over their lifetime.

Just as it is a miracle of God to create how our physical heart functions, He also designed a special spiritual heart for each human being who has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

“And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26

Through our spiritual heart, we are united with Jesus Christ by inviting Him into our lives. The moment this is done, Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to be with us while He is in Heaven at the right hand of God. The Holy Spirit heals us, renews us, cleanses us, trains us, teaches us, and is always with us.

Have you thought about how God created you to have a heart that not only beats so many life-giving beats per minute but also a heart that houses the Holy Spirit? Take some time to reflect on who lives in your heart and get serious about thanking God for how He created such an intricate organ that gives you physical AND spiritual life.

REFLECTION:

Have you thanked God today for your spiritual heart?

If you missed it, go here for Week 1.
